TERMS AND CONDITIONS

To ensure your hot air balloon flight is a happy, memorable and safe occasion, the following Terms & Conditions apply.

DURATION

Hot Air Balloon rides are planned for a duration of approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour in duration. Time in the air for each flight is variable and will be determined by the availability of landing sites and/or meteorological conditions.

WEATHER

Hot Air Balloon flights take place when local weather conditions are suitable. To ensure your safety, we only fly when it is safe to do so.

Our flight regime is VFR (Visual Flight Rule) as per the Canadian Air Regulations. We will not fly under the following meteorological conditions: low visibility, wind speed above 13km/h, or  precipitation close to, or in the flying area.

We reserve the right to cancel flights at any time up to the moment of launch if, by the pilot’s judgement, the conditions are not safe for flight.

If your flight is cancelled due to unsuitable weather conditions, we will send you an email with a rescheduling link on our online booking system so you can reschedule your flight for another available day that is suitable for you.

The pilot’s decision on the suitability of weather conditions for a flight is final, but rest assured that your flight is well worth waiting for!

PASSENGERS

Our flying location is located outside the city of Ottawa. To participate in one of our flights, passengers should be able to travel to our launch site on their own. Minor children under the age of 16 years of age have to be accompanied by an adult appointed by the parent(s) or guardian(s). While there is no upper age limit, passengers must be able to stand during the entirety of the flight, and may need to walk a certain distance from the balloon to the chase vehicle, sometimes on uneven ground. The balloon basket may not have a door, and passengers must be mobile enough to climb in and out of the basket. A certain amount of flexibility and upper body strength are desirable. Children must be at least 12 years old and be tall enough to see over the side of the basket. The basket is approximately 1.1m (42” tall). Due to safety and operational requirements we cannot fly passengers who weigh over 250 lbs, pregnant women, individuals who have done a recent scuba dive, and people suffering from chronic pain or have had recent major surgery. If you have a medical condition which could cause discomfort or be aggravated during the flight, or have been advised to restrict your activity because of a medical condition, please do not fly. Our maximum combined weights are as follows: Flights for 2 passengers: 350 lbs ; Flights for 3 or 4 passengers: 650 lbs.

CANCELLED FLIGHTS

In the event that we cancel your booking due to adverse weather conditions, we will send you an automated email; it is your responsibility to rebook your flight using the link provided to our online booking tool’s rescheduling function within 12 months of the purchase date.  Sometimes passengers can be cancelled a few times before being able to fly. In this case, you must attempt to reschedule 3 times within 12 months of the purchase date, or your booking will expire automatically. If you have been unsuccessful due to weather, we reserve the right to extend your booking.

We will not be held responsible for any expenses (travel, accommodation, etc.) incured by the passengers.

PERIOD OF VALIDITY

Bookings, Vouchers and Gift Certificates must be redeemed using our online booking system and are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.  We reserve the right to extend your booking, so get in touch via email prior to expiry.

TRANSFERS

We do understand that sometimes passenger’s situations change and they no longer can or wish to use their flight booking. For this reason, the bookings are transferable. If you wish to transfer your booking to another party, please ensure their health or ability is not restricted. Simply let us know via email who you want us to transfer the booking to and we will amend our records.

BOOKING CHANGES

Once your booking reservation has been made, we require 72 hour notice for schedule changes.

REFUNDS

No refunds under any circumstances.

LATE ARRIVALS/NO-SHOW

Late arrivals, no-shows and flights cancelled without 72 hour notice will be considered flown.
